Should Knox have remained disqualified from NJ Wrestling Championships?
- Yes, accountability is everything
- No, he deserved a chance
The Saint John Vianney 126-pounder dominated Bergen Catholic's Nathan Braun with an 18-4 victory on Saturday, March 8, in Atlantic City, securing his fourth New Jersey state wrestling title. Knox is the fifth four-time state wrestling champ for the Garden State.
Knox, 18, was initially disqualified following a brawl, later facing assault charges related to the incident. However, after an outpouring of support and a successful appeal, he was reinstated—setting the stage for his historic win.
His father, Anthony Knox Sr., took to Facebook to express his gratitude for the community’s backing and pride in his son’s resilience.
"And to my boy, my best friend, my sidekick or maybe I’m your sidekick, it’s been an honor and privilege watching you compete," he wrote. "Wrestling is hard, winning four state titles in NJ is even harder, and what you went through the last few weeks... I don’t know many that could have done this and competed the way you just did."
Knox will wrestle for Cornell University in the fall.
